Why Momentum? It’s simple, really.

There are many reasons why you should become a Momentum Family, the main being the fact we meet families where they’re at. We do this by learning each scholar’s unique needs and abilities and partnering with families to make sure that their scholar’s learning is individualized and goes beyond the walls of our schools. We do this because we care about every scholar’s success, and we believe everyone should have a stake.

Are the scholars required to wear a uniform? What is the uniform?

All scholars are required to wear a school uniform consisting of navy blue pants, shorts, or skirt and a Momentum Academy polo shirt. Our elementary-age scholars wear a purple polo shirt, while our upper academy scholars wear a white polo shirt. Scholars should wear solid color shoes and may wear sweaters or sweatshirts in solid, school colors.

We require our scholars to wear a uniform to help keep their focus on their academic tasks. Our uniforms unite us as a school community and promote school unity.

How is the Upper Academy structured at Momentum Academy?

Our Upper Academy, or Middle School, includes 6th through 8th grade. Each campus has content area teachers for math, english language arts, science, and social studies.
The Upper Academy scholars also participate in both art and physical education class multiple times each week. We also offer High school application(s) assistance

Transportation assistance may be available, on an as-needed basis, for our families who are experiencing homelessness, or personal crisis. Families may contact us to see if they qualify for transportation assistance.

Does Momentum Academy offer a virtual learning option?

Yes! See the MOCAP homeschool program. We also provide short-term virtual learning for scholars/with Covid-19 or other major illnesses.

How large are the class sizes at Momentum Academy? What is the student/teacher ratio?

At Momentum Academy, our goal is to ensure that each scholar in the classroom is given access to excellent learning opportunities. Our instructional model allows for a student/teacher ratio of approximately 20:1 for core subjects in Lower Academy and up to 25:1 for Upper Academy. This model also provides time for individualized practice using blended learning programs. If we experience an increase in class size, TAs may be brought in to assist teachers.
