Momentum Academy offers a variety of athletic opportunities for our scholars including: 3rd/4th grade basketball (co-ed) 5th-8th grade girls’ basketball and boys’ basketball K-1st, 2nd/3rd, 4th/5th grade soccer for boys and girls 6-8th grade girls’ volleyball 3rd-5th grade girls on the run 3rd-8th grade girls dance and poms squad Our elementary athletics are run through the YMCA and our Upper Academy athletics teams are part of the St. Louis City Charter School Athletics League. What clubs does Momentum host? Momentum Academy also hosts a number of clubs for scholars including: Girl Scouts Robotics Club Chess Club Student Council I can’t find solid black shoes. Can my scholar wear shoes that are not solid black? We prefer for scholars to wear solid black shoes with black socks because it is the most uniform look and helps avoid distractions during the school day. However, if you are unable to acquire a solid black pair, please contact the Dean of Scholars at your scholar’s school. The Dean of Scholars will make the final determination on acceptable shoes. How large are the class sizes at Momentum Academy? What is the student/teacher ratio? At Momentum Academy, our goal is to ensure that each scholar in the classroom is given access to excellent learning opportunities. Our instructional model allows for a student/teacher ratio of approximately 20:1 for core subjects in Lower Academy and up to 25:1 for Upper Academy. This model also provides time for individualized practice using blended learning programs. If we experience an increase in class size, TAs may be brought in to assist teachers. Is before and after school care available? What are the hours and the cost? Yes! Momentum Academy does provide before and after-school care options for our scholars. Our before-school care program is run and supervised by our school staff members. Scholars may be dropped off for before-care beginning at 6:30 am. After-school care is available, on-site, at each Momentum Academy campus and is open from the end of the school day until 6:00 pm. There is a fee for both before and after-school care. We work with families to ensure that their scholars are able to access any services they need regardless of the cost. How is the Upper Academy structured at Momentum Academy? Our Upper Academy, or Middle School, includes 6th through 8th grade. Each campus has content area teachers for math, english language arts, science, and social studies. The Upper Academy scholars also participate in both art and physical education class multiple times each week. We also offer High school application(s) assistance
