Parent + Family FAQs Learn more about the Momentum experience! FAQs I can’t find solid black shoes. Can my scholar wear shoes that are not solid black? We prefer for scholars to wear solid black shoes with black socks because it is the most uniform look and helps avoid distractions during the school day. However, if you are unable to acquire a solid black pair, please contact the Dean of Scholars at your scholar’s school. The Dean of Scholars will make the final determination on acceptable shoes. What athletics teams are offered at Momentum Academy? Momentum Academy offers a variety of athletic opportunities for our scholars including: 3rd/4th grade basketball (co-ed) 5th-8th grade girls’ basketball and boys’ basketball K-1st, 2nd/3rd, 4th/5th grade soccer for boys and girls 6-8th grade girls’ volleyball 3rd-5th grade girls on the run 3rd-8th grade girls dance and poms squad Our elementary athletics are run through the YMCA and our Upper Academy athletics teams are part of the St. Louis City Charter School Athletics League. What types of bottoms are permitted? Solid Navy Blue Shorts, Skirts, Pants, and Jumpers are permitted but not available for purchase on the school online store. *Navy Sweaters are also permitted Are the scholars required to wear a uniform? What is the uniform? All scholars are required to wear a school uniform consisting of navy blue pants, shorts, or skirt and a Momentum Academy polo shirt. Our elementary-age scholars wear a purple polo shirt, while our upper academy scholars wear a white polo shirt. Scholars should wear solid color shoes and may wear sweaters or sweatshirts in solid, school colors. We require our scholars to wear a uniform to help keep their focus on their academic tasks. Our uniforms unite us as a school community and promote school unity. Why does Momentum Academy have a shortened school day on Fridays? We have a shortened schedule on Fridays to accommodate weekly teacher and staff professional development. Our staff members receive additional training and development each week and are also given the opportunity to collaborate with their colleagues during that time. Does Momentum Academy offer a preschool or K4 program? What is the kindergarten age cut off? Momentum Academy now offers a full-day preschool program for three and four-year-old scholars. Scholars must be three years old before August 1st to be eligible for enrollment. This program is located at our Momentum Academy – Tower Grove South campus. New scholars must turn 5 years old before August 1st to be eligible for kindergarten at Momentum Academy.
