FAQs How is the Upper Academy structured at Momentum Academy? Our Upper Academy, or Middle School, includes 6th through 8th grade. Each campus has content area teachers for math, english language arts, science, and social studies. The Upper Academy scholars also participate in both art and physical education class multiple times each week. We also offer High school application(s) assistance Does Momentum Academy offer a virtual learning option? Yes! See the MOCAP homeschool program. We also provide short-term virtual learning for scholars/with Covid-19 or other major illnesses. Does Momentum Academy provide transportation to and from school? Momentum Academy does not currently provide transportation for our scholars. Transportation assistance may be available, on an as-needed basis, for our families who are experiencing homelessness, or personal crisis. Families may contact us to see if they qualify for transportation assistance. Does Momentum Academy offer a preschool or K4 program? What is the kindergarten age cut off? Momentum Academy now offers a full-day preschool program for three and four-year-old scholars. Scholars must be three years old before August 1st to be eligible for enrollment. This program is located at our Momentum Academy – Tower Grove South campus. New scholars must turn 5 years old before August 1st to be eligible for kindergarten at Momentum Academy. Why does Momentum Academy have a shortened school day on Fridays? We have a shortened schedule on Fridays to accommodate weekly teacher and staff professional development. Our staff members receive additional training and development each week and are also given the opportunity to collaborate with their colleagues during that time. How large are the class sizes at Momentum Academy? What is the student/teacher ratio? At Momentum Academy, our goal is to ensure that each scholar in the classroom is given access to excellent learning opportunities. Our instructional model allows for a student/teacher ratio of approximately 20:1 for core subjects in Lower Academy and up to 25:1 for Upper Academy. This model also provides time for individualized practice using blended learning programs. If we experience an increase in class size, TAs may be brought in to assist teachers.
