November 26, 2024 Dear Momentum Academy Community, I hope you are enjoying your much-needed break. I continue to operate in a spirit of transparency and want to ensure you are the first to hear of any changes or updates in the organization. I am pleased to share an important update regarding our leadership transition. Following the completion of final Executive Director interviews during the week of November 8th, the selection committee—comprised of board members, community partners, family members, scholars, and staff—conducted a thorough and rigorous selection process. After carefully evaluating candidates’ performance tasks, presentations, and numerous interviews, the committee has chosen our current Chief of Schools, Liz Valerio, as the next Executive Director of Momentum Academy. Liz brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to this role, and we are confident in her ability to lead Momentum Academy into its next chapter. Read more about Liz’s background here. Succession planning and ensuring the organization is set up for long-term success continues to align to our values. I will continue to serve alongside Liz throughout the 2025-2026 school year to ensure a seamless transition. As Liz transitions from the Chief of schools role, the team will work to secure a high-quality successor. At last night’s Board of Directors meeting, the board officially approved Liz’s appointment as Executive Director, effective July 1, 2025.
